Hall of Famer Roger Connor was one of the earliest stars in baseball, playing for several teams in the Major Leagues, with his longest tenure being in New York. He is thought to be responsible for the name change from the New York Gothams to the New York Giants, due to his great stature. A fearsome slugger, Connor hit 138 home runs during his 18-year career, and he was the all time leader in the category until he was surpassed by a gentleman named Babe Ruth. The offered advertising supplement hails from the twilight of his career, depicted as "Dear Old" Roger Connor of the St. Louis Baseball Club. This supplement shows a small tear in the upper right corner, otherwise presents in fantastic condition. Framed and matted to a visible area of approximately 9" x 13" and displaying with a fresh-like appearance not usually associated with 19th century supplements, this is a very scarce and possibly unique piece, ready to be added to any advanced collection.
