Up for auction is a very presentable example of Mike "King" Kelly's 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter World's Champions issue that has been accurately if not somewhat conservatively assessed EX 5 by the grading team at PSA. EX to EX/MT top corners mirror EX bottom left and NM/MT bottom right points between NM edges around a beautiful NM/MT image on a mildly and uniformly soiled EX to EX/MT obverse. The reverse appears significantly cleaner than the front but reveals an EX/MT to NM centering preference that isn't nearly as perceptible on the other side. The highlight, however, is no doubt the precisely printed and perfectly preserved lithography depicting the New York born Bostonian often credited with promoting the hit the run, the hook slide, and the practice of catchers backing up first base. A very sturdy example of a key 19th century Hall of Fame issue.
