Graded EX 5 by SGC. A capable barehanded fielder at first base, Brouthers made his best contributions at the plate. He went 6-for-6 on July 19, 1883, and on September 10, 1886, he blasted three home runs, a double, and a single for 15 total bases. The featured collectible hails from the exceptionally popular Old Judge issue and offers astute collectors one of the nicest and clearest images we have encountered from the release. Each of the four corners retains a freshness with just the most moderate of clean wear apparent at the extreme tips of the corners. The surface is a resplendent smooth palate with no pitfalls encountered while the edges appear that of a much higher graded card. The centering while shifted to the right frames this 19th century keepsake well. The reverse gives way to an unblemished appearance that compliments the obverse. Offered in delectable and appealing EX or better condition.
