Dating back to the very beginnings of the sport, this original 1860s-70s baseball tintype photo measures approximately 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and depicts a time period "base ball" player (as it was called at the time), wearing a uniform. A team identification is sewn across the front, a reverse image with visible letters "ITE STA" (perhaps WHITE STAR for a company team). A fantastic piece of Americana from a newly formed game that would rise to the height of American culture.
